The original 34 mat exercises were developed by Joseph Pilates as a complete, self-contained system of movement. Designed to be performed on the mat with nothing but your own body weight, the exercises follow a deliberate sequence — each movement preparing the body for the next.

 

Together, they form a balanced progression that builds strength, mobility, coordination, and control from the inside out. At the center of the 34 exercises is the Power House — the deep muscles of the abdomen, lower back, hips, and glutes. Every movement originates from this center, teaching the body to move with efficiency, precision, and purpose.

 

The mat work was never intended as casual exercise. It demands attention, breath, and full-body integration. Arms and legs move, but the work is driven from the core. The mind is not optional — it is part of the method.

We live in an age of extraordinary potential, yet in our race toward the future, we have overlooked our most vital companion: the human body. We move at the speed of light, but true velocity comes from being grounded. While the modern world may feel like it is pulling us apart, we believe the human flourishing is designed for integration.

 

We see a future where awareness is the ultimate currency and presence is our greatest power. The spark of connection hasn't been extinguished; it is simply waiting for a deeper breath. We aren't here for quick hacks, but to help our tribe develop a mindset to feel fulfilled, vibrant, alive and to find that awe towards our bodies. 34Moves is the reclamation.  Born on the Isle of Man, where Pilates developed his original method, we are here to restore the "complete coordination of body, mind, and spirit”.

Ruby Griffiths

CO-FOUNDER

With a background in Psychology, a Master’s degree in the Neuroscience of Mental Health, and over 600 hours of APPI equipment Pilates training, she brings a rare combination of academic rigour and embodied understanding to the 34Moves philosophy. Her approach to movement is grounded in biology rather than trends — shaped by an understanding of how the nervous system, breath, and awareness influence both physical and mental health.

Stephan Baum

CO-FOUNDER

Stephan’s path to 34Moves began in a very different world. Trained in Business Administration, Strategic Management, Finance, and New Business Development, he learned that years of constant pressure, digital saturation, and relentless pace eventually revealed a simple truth: productivity without presence creates disconnection. Stephan brings clarity, structure, and long-term vision to 34Moves.
