The original 34 mat exercises were developed by Joseph Pilates as a complete, self-contained system of movement. Designed to be performed on the mat with nothing but your own body weight, the exercises follow a deliberate sequence — each movement preparing the body for the next.

 

Together, they form a balanced progression that builds strength, mobility, coordination, and control from the inside out. At the center of the 34 exercises is the Power House — the deep muscles of the abdomen, lower back, hips, and glutes. Every movement originates from this center, teaching the body to move with efficiency, precision, and purpose.

 

The mat work was never intended as casual exercise. It demands attention, breath, and full-body integration. Arms and legs move, but the work is driven from the core. The mind is not optional — it is part of the method.

34 MOVES IS A RECLAMATION.  Born on the Isle of Man, where Pilates developed his original method, we are here to restore the "complete coordination of body, mind, and spirit”.
